RAPID (Readily Accessible Parts Information Directory)RAPID is an inventory management tool offered through annual subscription by NUS Information Services. It was implemented at the Rawhide Energy Station in 1998. The system, which is Internet based, is used by both nuclear and fossil power plants to locate parts.
RAPID has proven to be a valuable tool for Platte River and Rawhide and will continue to be valuable in a deregulated environment in which we will operate in the future. There are many creative solutions to inventory needs in the global atmosphere of the Internet, such as sharing high-dollar inventory parts with other utilities. Many parts that are reordered and kept in inventory for a power plant have a long lead-time and many power plants have cut back. RAPID is a way for plants to both lower inventory and still meet maintenance needs.
